Week 31

Week 31; week of Thanksgiving! With the first of the major Fall/Winter Holidays approaching this week, time is just going to continue to fly by (even faster!). We hope everyone has a great Turkey Day this week and safe travels if you're leaving the comfort of your home!

New This Week: Baby measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. Sleep has diminished for Mommy with Baby moving around so much at night, but it's a sign of a good and healthy baby, I guess!

We had a great weekend down in Harmony. Tio Ramon is in town from Dallas, doing some hunting, so it was nice to see him again. We also took this opportunity to ask him to by Baby's Godfather and he gladly (and excitedly) accepted! We also got to see Uncle Bruce's family (most of them) from Alaska this weekend. It was nice to see Jennifer and Adam and meet their little one, Colin. Best of luck to them with thier second on the way in May! We briefly got to see Brian and his friend Joe, but hopefully we'll see them more this week as we share some dessert!

Baby's Room Progress...

Here is the progress of the Baby's room. As most of you know, this used to be the guest room, so as you can see the first picture has the Latte and chocolate paint scheme. The chandelier was added shortly before the picture was taken.


Daddy added the pink paint, as well as altering the chandelier to be at a better height (so that he doesn't keep hitting his head!) and I think he did a really great job! After moving the furniture around a couple dozen times, we decided on this arrangement:




As you can see Baby has a ton of clothing and fun stuff from the two showers that we've had! It was so fun to go through it all again as I washed everything and organized it by size.




Next, we are working on decorations and I'll be sure to post some more pictures!

Week 30

I can remember the first trimester and thinking how lucky those women were to be in their 30+ weeks; knowing that Baby was almost here, and also thinking that it seemed like we would never get there! And now, we are here! We are at week 30 and couldn't be happier! Only 10 weeks to go, until we meet our little girl!

New This Week: Baby is about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds. A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in the uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

We spent the weekend getting the Baby's room ready. Daddy picked up the furniture and we finally figured out how we wanted it in the Baby's room. All of the little clothing is now washed and put away, along with her blankies. It was so much fun hanging up her little clothes; I even had fun doing laundry! We are now putting the finishing touches, as far as decorative items. I'll be posting pictures of the progress...soon!

Week 29

We are in our 7th month now! Time is flying by! We picked up the stroller/carseat travel system this past week and have had fun fitting it into the cars and making sure we know how it works in there. Daddy has been especially excited just to have the base in his car! The rest of the furniture should be arriving this week, hopefully...Mommy is getting anxious looking at all the little outfits that need to be put away!

New This Week: Baby is now about the size of a squash; and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in Baby's hardening skeleton each day, good thing I like cheeses and dairy stuff (and can actually have them!). Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin (I think she's now found my ribs to work on with her "little" kicks and jabs!). Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.

We had a good weekend, as the weather got significantly cooler. Mommy worked all weekend and Daddy had some projects around the house. Frida was busy making sure we knew she was still there, by bringing us all her toys to play with!

Shower Hosted By Auntie Chelsea - 10/25/08

Here are a few pictures from our 1st Baby Shower! Again, we had so much fun! We had a georgeous day to travel down to Rochester and enjoy the beautiful leaves changing!

These are just the gifts from Auntie Chelsea and Yaya Liisa! I think they are just a little excited! I don't think Baby will need a thing after all the beautiful gifts we got!

We are all so excited! I think Grandma Bena and GG Cremer had a great time too!

Week 28

Had our 28 week check up today and everything seems to be looking great! Baby is measuring at about 27.4 weeks, Mommy's belly is measuring about 28 weeks, and the Dr and Nurse Practioner were very happy with our progress. With the better diet that Mommy is on; being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, we are down a pound since the last check up. But again, everyone is looking perfect and we couldn't be happier! You can see her little face looking at ya in the above ultrasound.

New This Week: Baby weighs two and a half pounds (according to our ultrasound this morning - which is a 1/4 pound bigger than what the websites say...) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world!

We enjoyed Grandma Bena's company last week, it was so nice to have her stay with us for a couple of nights and help go through the Baby's things so far! Thanks Grandma Bena!!!
We had a great weekend with gorgeous fall weather! The leaves are all so beautiful. We got to see Auntie Chelsea in a b-ball scrimage on Saturday morning and then we celebrated Grandma Ya-ya's birthday on Saturday with a relaxing dinner at our house.
Sunday we had another lovely shower hosted by Tia Bria. It was so much fun and it was great to see everyone; I was so sad to see it end. We got so many wonderful presents; I can't wait to see Baby use them all!!! Thanks to Tia Bria again for hosting a great shower and to everyone who could make it!
